The Palace Theatre

The Palace Theatre is a theatre in Redditch, in a Grade II listed building.

It opened in 1913. It is an example of Edwardian theatre and has received a major refurbishment restoring the theatre to its original state. Funds and grants were provided by Redditch Borough Council (£3M), and £920,500 as part of a £4 million scheme from The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

The Palace building has been used as a variety hall, a cinema, a roller skating rink, and a bingo hall. Since 1971 it has been used exclusively as a theatre.

2011- 2013 has marked a change of scenery for Birmingham Repertory Theatre as we underwent re-development as part of the new Library of Birmingham. This exciting venture sees the two cultural venues sharing public spaces and a new purpose-built 300-seat auditorium, plus there has been a much-needed updating of The REP’s backstage facilities.
